I was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama and have had the pleasure of living in several other cities across the Southeast. I have also had the opportunity to spend time abroad, living in France, South Africa, the UK and Japan at various points in my life. I attended The University of Alabama, where I graduated with degrees in Political Science and Economics and focused on leadership development and civic engagement as a University Fellow.
My career has had some twists and turns. My first job was scrubbing pots and pans at a boys summer camp in Alabama. The next summer I was rolling and sweeping tennis courts in North Carolina. Throughout high school, I worked at an A/V center renting out DVDs and equipment to pay for meals and save up for my first car.
After graduating college, I began my professional career in Charlotte, North Carolina, helping entrepreneurs at small and medium-sized companies raise capital, navigate acquisition processes, and transition their businesses. My deal experience gave me the opportunity to work with owners and operators of companies across multiple industries, including:
A truck accessories, trailers, and sheds retailer with 50+ locations across the mid-Atlantic
A founder-led toothpaste company that was sold to Colgate
A southeast-based fine dining restaurant group
A 100-year-old family-owned apparel brand
A tattoo ink and supplies manufacturing and distribution business
With each of these companies, I worked hand-in-hand with entrepreneurs to implement operational improvements, identify growth opportunities, and prepare for transition through capital raise or acquisition. I truly enjoyed working with owners and entrepreneurs, and these experiences largely influenced my decision to follow my entrepreneurial roots and acquire and operate a business of my own.
To broaden my skill set and make the transition to entrepreneurship, I decided to earn my MBA. I applied and was accepted to INSEAD, a business school in France that was ranked the #1 business school in the world when I applied. I enjoyed my experience and expanded my toolset while abroad, but am excited to be back in the United States of America to look for a business to buy.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with friends, family, and my wife, Annie, who comes from a family of entrepreneurs as well. You can find us at church on Sundays, or occasionally on the local golf course. We are excited about this new chapter of our lives and look forward to moving to and joining a new community.
